Day 9
John did not get going early, so it was 10 am before I got going. The first part of the journey was particularly lovely through empty lanes shaded by large beech and oak trees growing from the hedgerows. Back on the cycle route N74 it began to gently climb a mountain. I soon became weary - three pints of John's beer and his Full Scottish Breakfast - had taken their toll. So I stopped and made some coffee. But still I could not get going properly, so I got some music out to listen to as I cycled along. I don't usually do this but as I was travelling along a cycleway there was no need to keep an ear out for traffic. I reached a farm campsite at Draffan, just South of Stonehouse. It was a pretty run down place but the showers worked and the grass was clean.
I hope that I can get as far as Dunoon tomorrow - perhaps I will have a day off there. 86 km today Bye for now
